Patients with asthma, coronary heart disease and COPD are
seen at arranged clinic appointments with the practice nurse
or during normal surgery consultations.
Both practice nurses and the health care assistant offer
advice about the smoking cessation.
Minor surgery procedures are carried out by the doctors
by arrangements, often at Totnes Community Hospital.
Child health immunisations are usually carried out on Friday
afternoons or by appointment with Dr. Franklin.
The practice nurses can arrange health checks including
screening, e.g. cervical cytology, blood pressure and cholesterol
checks. These are available under the NHS. Some other examinations
such as HGV and driving medicals needed by the DVLA require
a fee and need an appointment with a GP.
